Scream (franchise)

Scream is an American slasher media franchise created by Kevin Williamson that began with the 1996 film directed by Wes Craven. It follows a masked killer known as Ghostface who targets residents of the fictional town of Woodsboro and, in later installments, other communities, in a series that became known for its self-aware commentary on horror film conventions. The franchise has expanded to seven films, a television series, and associated merchandise and games, and has grossed more than 1.1 billion dollars at the worldwide box office.
