Indiana Jones

Indiana Jones is an American adventure franchise created by George Lucas and directed in its original films by Steven Spielberg, centered on the archaeologist professor Henry Indiana Jones Jr., played by Harrison Ford. It began with Raiders of the Lost Ark in 1981, styled as a tribute to the serial adventure films of the 1930s and 1940s, and continued through Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, The Last Crusade, The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and The Dial of Destiny, spanning more than four decades of production. The films follow Jones on globe spanning expeditions to recover legendary artifacts, including the Ark of the Covenant and the Holy Grail, while facing rival treasure hunters and, in the original trilogy, Nazi agents, and the character's leather jacket, fedora hat and bullwhip have become enduring symbols of the adventure genre. The franchise has expanded into novels, comic books, video games and a television series, and its films have grossed close to two billion dollars worldwide.
