Madagascar (franchise)

Madagascar is an American media franchise from DreamWorks Animation that began in 2005 with the release of its first animated feature film, featuring the voices of Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, David Schwimmer and Jada Pinkett Smith as a group of Central Park Zoo animals who find themselves stranded on the island of Madagascar. The original film's success led to two theatrical sequels, released in 2008 and 2012, and a 2014 spin-off film centered on the franchise's penguin characters. A fourth main film was announced for 2018 but was later removed from the studio's schedule indefinitely amid a 2015 restructuring.
