Terminator

Terminator is an American science fiction franchise created by James Cameron and Gale Anne Hurd, beginning with the film The Terminator in 1984, in which a cyborg assassin is sent back in time from a future ruled by the artificial intelligence Skynet to kill a woman whose unborn son will lead humanity's resistance. Arnold Schwarzenegger's performance as the title cyborg across multiple films made the character and his line I will be back one of the most recognized in science fiction cinema, and the 1991 sequel Terminator 2: Judgment Day was a landmark of computer generated visual effects for its liquid metal T-1000 antagonist. The series has continued through several further sequels made by different creative teams, alongside a television series, novels, comic books and video games, and its central premise, a war between humans and self aware machines, has become a widely referenced touchstone in later science fiction and in real world discussions of artificial intelligence risk.
