Directors and Filmmakers

Zak Penn (born 1968) is an American screenwriter and occasional director who has worked mainly on large studio films and comic book adaptations. He graduated from Wesleyan University in 1990, and his screenplay for the campus comedy PCU drew on his time in a university society house. He co-wrote the scripts for X2 and X-Men: The Last Stand, wrote the script for The Incredible Hulk, and shared the story credit for The Avengers. Later screenwriting credits include Ready Player One and Free Guy. As a director he made the mock documentary Incident at Loch Ness, co-produced with Werner Herzog, the comedy The Grand, and the documentary Atari: Game Over. With Michael Karnow he created the television series Alphas for the Syfy network, and in 2012 his first comic book, Hero Worship, was published by Avatar Press.
