Michel Audiard

Directors and Filmmakers

Paul Michel Audiard (1920 to 1985) was a French screenwriter and film director, known for his witty, irreverent and slang-laden dialogues. Those dialogues made him a prominent figure on the French cultural scene of the 1960s and 1970s. He was the father of the French film director Jacques Audiard. His reputation rests chiefly on the written word of French cinema: lines of dialogue that audiences quoted and that gave the films he wrote their distinctive voice, alongside his own work as a director.
