Masashi Kishimoto

Masashi Kishimoto, born on 8 November 1974, is a Japanese manga artist. His manga series Naruto was serialized from 1999 to 2014 and, as of May 2019, had sold over 250 million copies worldwide in 46 countries. The series was adapted into two anime and multiple films, video games and related media, and Kishimoto personally supervised the three anime films Road to Ninja, The Last and Boruto. He also wrote several one-shot stories and the series Samurai 8: The Tale of Hachimaru, which ended in March 2020, and he later supervised and then took over as writer of the Boruto manga. The source names Akira Toriyama and Katsuhiro Otomo as his main influences and says he wrote for Weekly Shonen Jump.
