Castle in the Sky is a 1986 Japanese animated film directed by Hayao Miyazaki, the first film produced by Studio Ghibli, following two orphaned children, Sheeta and Pazu, as they are pursued by the military and by air pirates who all want Sheeta's mysterious crystal necklace, the key to finding Laputa, a legendary flying castle built with a lost civilization's advanced technology.
