Madagascar (2005 film)

Madagascar is a 2005 computer-animated film produced by DreamWorks Animation, directed by Eric Darnell and Tom McGrath, following four pampered animals from New York City's Central Park Zoo, Alex the lion, Marty the zebra, Melman the giraffe and Gloria the hippopotamus, who escape captivity and are accidentally shipped to the wild island of Madagascar, where they must adjust to a natural environment none of them has ever known. Its culture-clash premise, contrasting the animals' zoo-bred habits with the demands of the wild, and its ensemble voice cast made it one of DreamWorks Animation's biggest commercial successes, launching a long-running franchise of sequels, spinoffs and a stage adaptation.
