Tarzan is a 1999 animated film produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios, directed by Chris Buck and Kevin Lima and based on Edgar Rice Burroughs's character, following an orphaned human infant raised by gorillas in the African jungle who grows into adulthood torn between his ape family and the human explorers, including a young woman named Jane, who arrive and reveal his human origins. The film introduced a computer-assisted technique called Deep Canvas, allowing painted backgrounds to be rendered with camera movement through three-dimensional jungle environments, and featured songs written and performed by Phil Collins, including You'll Be in My Heart, which won the Academy Award for Best Original Song.
