Mulan is a 1998 American animated film from Walt Disney Feature Animation, directed by Barry Cook and Tony Bancroft and based on the Chinese legend of Hua Mulan as told in the poem The Song of Fa Mu Lan, following a young woman who disguises herself as a man to take her elderly father's place in the imperial army against invading Huns, proves herself a capable soldier, and plays a decisive role in defeating the Hun leader Shan Yu. The film was the first Disney animated feature produced primarily at the studio's Florida animation facility, which had previously only assisted on other productions, marking an expansion of Disney's Florida operations into a full production center capable of carrying an entire feature.
