Fritz the Cat

Fritz the Cat is a 1972 animated film directed by Ralph Bakshi, adapted from the underground comic character created by Robert Crumb, following a cynical, promiscuous anthropomorphic cat through satirical encounters with 1960s counterculture, campus radicalism and race relations. The film was the first animated feature to receive an X rating from the Motion Picture Association of America, a rating driven by its explicit sexual content and drug use rather than violence. Fritz the Cat is widely regarded as a landmark of adult-oriented animation that broke decisively from the family-audience conventions Disney had established for the animated feature format.
