Cinderella is a 1950 American animated film produced by Walt Disney Productions and released by RKO Radio Pictures, directed by Wilfred Jackson, Hamilton Luske and Clyde Geronimi from Charles Perrault's fairy tale. It follows a young woman reduced to servitude by her cruel stepmother and stepsisters, who with a fairy godmother's magical help attends a royal ball and wins a prince's heart before the spell breaks at midnight. Made while Walt Disney Productions faced financial collapse after a run of costly failures in the 1940s, Cinderella became the studio's greatest box office success since Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, restoring its finances and funding its expansion into television and theme parks through the 1950s, and it was added to the National Film Registry in 2018.
