Cars (2006 film)

Cars is a 2006 computer-animated film produced by Pixar Animation Studios and directed by John Lasseter, set in a world populated entirely by anthropomorphic vehicles, following Lightning McQueen, a hotshot rookie race car voiced by Owen Wilson, who becomes stranded in the fading Route 66 town of Radiator Springs and learns humility and community from its residents while awaiting a championship race. Its detailed vehicle designs and its nostalgic tribute to the decline of America's old highway towns after the construction of the interstate system distinguished it within Pixar's output. It launched a long-running Cars franchise and an extensive line of merchandise that became one of Disney's most commercially significant properties.
